This is so true, we assume that we are more active, although there's a lot of all-ot-nothing thinking here. I hear clients telle how they have to "get it together" or "step it up" because the Summer is approaching and feel a sense of urgency. I try to remind them that they might have more sustainable results if they maintain consistency instead of "going big" here because they might crash and burn. This is such a good reminder.

Yes,

being healthy and/or in shape is often viewed as an event, but a constant state.

Much better to keep the intensity and duration lower, but do it frequently than going overboard and crashing.

Thank you

Summer is an easy time to “wing it” but doing that too much/too often doesn’t serve us! We are posting a similarly themed post tomorrow. Good stuff!!

Great points about the drinks, bbq, and ice cream. Moderation is hard.

About the walking. I notice that when it gets hot, everyone hides in the air conditioning. I go for a walk and it seems quiet outside. Canada has 7 months of cold weather where it’s cold and slippery outside, so it’s important for us to get out there and enjoy the grass, leaves and sunshine while we can. It might be necessary to get sweaty and wear sunscreen if necessary, or walk in the morning or evening, but it should become a priority.

I fully agree Tim!

Walking is the ground basis for everyone and yes, there is more and less favorable weather, but as you said, going early in the morning or evening should be manageable for most.

It’s not about avoiding the pleasures of summer, but being a bit mindful.
